For most architecture students the bachelor years are for trying different mediums out, learning what an architectural process looks like and completely rewire yourself to see certain structures in our surroundings and buildings. On this page you will find some images and some portfolio pages from my bachelor studies, they all were produced during the following 3 projects:

#RECREATION

Insel der Glückseligen – Güterbahnhof Grunewald wird Quartier, bachelorthesis, Prof. Stollmann, 2016

with D.B.

The design looked at one of Berlins former train goods depot and how to redevelop these comparatively large and central areas. Considering the housing crisis, how can areas like this be built on but still provide services and greenery to the surrounding areas. As a reference to the nearby Olympiastadion with its sport centers and Le Corbusier’s Unité d'habitation we suggested a monumental sports spark with large living blocks on top.

CARE.PORT

Connectivity, Prof. Nickl-Weller, 2015

with D.B.

In light of the dramatic and urgent refugee crisis of 2015, this design sought to provide refugees living in the former airport Tempelhof with health care and some sort of connection to the German society outside of the refugee camps. Our Proposal suggested a temporary building out of modules, combined into a small group of buildings that framed a smaller public square.

Vertikaler Kiez

Prof. Hoffmann, 2015

with D.B., F.H & F.Z.

In one of the first realistic design of our bachelor program we had to come up with a proposal that would create dense housing for primarily students but still provide the special neighbourhood flair that is Berlin, the so called Kiez. We suggested housing units for 16 people with small private bedrooms and large shared spaces like living rooms, kitchens, and work/study space. We layered these units with typical shops and uses from the neighbourhood, like a laundromat, a shop and a bar.
